A MOMENT WITH MOHAMED…
I hope that you’re well.
Tomorrow, IT-TRANS 2020 will begin. This edition will be a virtual experience as we adapt to ongoing restrictions of the global pandemic. By now, we are used to working in these new ways: connecting, sharing and collaborating through digital formats with events, webinars and meetings.
As IT-TRANS is dedicated to the ongoing digitalisation of public transport, it feels like a unique opportunity to bring a pillar UITP event to our audience in this format.
To stay connected to each other, and continue to advance debate within our sector, UITP has carried out several virtual events as part of our Digital World Tour. I am honoured to have been a part of these activities so far, and to see such impressive numbers join us online!
Moving into 2021, we’re all hoping to be able to connect and share experiences and ideas with each other in person, but until those days come, I hope you will see the benefit of sharing the virtual stage with experts from across the globe…
The next stop being IT-TRANS and the Taxi and Ride-Hailing Digital Conference this week!

DIGITALISATION DURING COVID-19 WITH OUR IT-TRANS KEYNOTE
This year, the 2020 edition of IT-TRANS will be a virtual experience, where we will address the digital development of public transport during COVID-19 and beyond.
It will take expert voices to move the debate forward – step up digital strategist Christoph Bornschein as our keynote speaker.
Christoph knows what the digital revolution has done for the world – and what the impact of digitalisation has meant for urban mobility.
So where are we in the digital world? And what’s next for digitalisation?
TAKE A TAXI TRIP WITH OUR GLOBAL BENCHMARKING STUDY
Taxis are well-known as an individual, door-to-door, on-demand transport…by the nature of their service, they are an integral element of the sustainable urban multimodal mobility chain.
The profile of the taxi has continued to grow within UITP and now our new Statistics Brief in the form of the “Global Taxi Benchmarking Study 2019” highlights the differences between taxi markets in various cities around the world.
You can take a comparative look at taxi performance metrics on different criteria to identify similarities and differences among cities, with data compiled for 16 locations around the world.
DATA-SHARING IN PUBLIC TRANSPORT: WHY, WHO AND WHEN…
Public transport services rely increasingly on digital information systems to ensure reliable and efficient operation, as well as accurate passenger information.
With the growing use of Internet of Things (IoT) and other data-generating devices, our sector has witnessed an explosion of data, opening new doors and opportunities still to be explored.
Now, alongside our member LTA, we’re looking closer at data in a study and Report:“Sharing of Data in Public Transport: Value, Governance and Sustainability“.
Learn more about the value of data sharing and how to make the best decisions for your business.
CLEAN BUS EUROPE PLATFORM AND SUSTAINABLE-BUS TEAM UP
A lot is happening in the clean bus market today as technological and environmental advancements bring new deployments.
Last year, UITP was proud to announe the launch of the Clean Bus Europe Platform, under the European Commission’s Bus Deployment Initative.
Now, we are happy to announce that the Platform has entered into a new collaboration with Sustainable-Bus.com, a leading news outlet on clean buses and sustainability.
By joining forces with Sustainable-Bus, we will advance content and conversation on clean buses in numerous ways through the Clean Bus Europe Platform.
