40D Installation Instructions
The Safe-T-Punch STP40D device is our industrial device. It is taller and heavier with a long stroke length and deeper penetration ability. It has found many uses where a larger device is preferred.
Although this device is extensively in-house tested, it is always recommended by ILR Safety that the installer performs suitability testing to their satisfaction. If in doubt please contact ILR Safety CC.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: – STP40D DOUBLE GLAZING INSTALLATIONN
A common application is for the retrofitting of existing double glazed toughened glass window assemblies. In this instance we make the following critical technical recommendation.
Please follow the standard Safe-T-Punch installation instructions AND include the directions below: –
Recommendation: – The STP40D device must be used in conjunction with a suitable film applied to the glass surface on the installation side. This serves to stabilise the installation.
Reason: – It prevents the device from becoming detached during activation in an emergency. Once the inner pane is broken the device may fall away with the broken glass before the outer pane is broken.
Film material: – Anti-scratch film or window tinting film provides good results. Do NOT use on anti-graffiti film as this type shrugs-off adhesive when applied to it.
Film Suitability: – The film must be tested for ability to accept adhesive.
Apply this film edge to edge over the entire exposed interior surface of the emergency window’s glass pane in accordance with its manufacturer’s instructions.
Install the instructions sticker for the STP40D device onto the film.
In the hole provided in the instructions sticker, cut a 16mm diameter disk out of the centre and remove this piece of film.
Install the STP40D Device in the prepared area as per the standard installation instructions for Safe-T-Punch devices.
30N, 40N, 40FA & 50FA Installation Instructions
Only use on clearly marked toughened glass windows.
DO NOT use on laminate glass windscreens or any unmarked windows.
Minimum legal emergency exit window
size – 700mm x 500mm.
Clean interior surface of the emergency exit window using dishwashing liquid soap and water. Rinse using clean water and wipe dry with a clean paper towel.
Read the warning instruction on the round cut-out of the sticker, once read, remove and discard this piece.
Apply the instruction decal at an appropriate position on the glass using an applicator squeegee or a plastic bank card. Any bubbles can be pricked with a pin and flattened by hand.
Using the supplied alcohol swab carefully clean the exposed glass in the cut-out area on the instruction sticker. Do not rub the sticker with the swab supplied as this will remove the ink.
Peel off the adhesive backing from the Safe-T-Punch™ unit. Align the Safe-T-Punch™ centred to the cut-out in the instruction sticker with the safety tag in the vertical position.
Firmly press the Safe-T-Punch™ onto the glass and hold in position for thirty seconds.
ILR Safety recommends that the following maintenance be performed on every Safe-T-Punch installation.

- Remove safety tag
- Test device for free movement
- Replace safety tag with new (All STP devices except STP50F)
- Reinsert safety tag (STP50FA Devices)
